Palikir, Pohnpei. August 7, 2015. The Second Special Session of the Nineteenth Congress of the Federated States of Micronesia will convene for a 5-day session as called by President Peter M. Christian, beginning Thursday, August 13, 2015.
In his letter to Speaker Wesley W. Simina, the President underlined that at the close of July’s First Special Session several important matters remained pending with Congress and requested priority consideration.
The matters highlighted by the President are: finalization of the Compact Grants appropriation, Public Project allottee adjustments, and continuing efforts for final action on Executive Branch nominations to the Cabinet and other advice and consent positions.
In addition to the President’s stated priorities, Congress still has issues pending before the Body that need to be addressed.
The Second Special Session of the 19th Congress as called, will convene for five days beginning Thursday – August 13, 2015.
As always, the sessions of Congress are open to the interested general public.
